Charles Thomson was Secretary of the Continental Congress of the United States of America from 1774 to 1789. After retiring from the Congress in 1789, Charles Thomson began translating the Septuagint Bible from Greek into English. The Septuagint Bible is the version of the Old Testament that was used at the time of Christ, and that Christ quoted from. After 19 years of work translating the Greek, text, Charles Thomson published the first English Septuagint Bible in 1808.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXAMPLE THAT SHOWS THE DIFFERENCE IN TRANSLATIONS:
1611 KING JAMES VERSION: And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the "Sabbath," from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete; Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.
JPS MASORETIC TEXT: And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the "Day of Rest," from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the waving; seven weeks shall there be complete; unto the morrow after the seventh week shall ye number fifty days; and shall present a new meal-offering unto the Lord.
SEPTUAGINT INTERLINEAR: And you shall count to yourselves from the next day of the "Sabbath," from the day which ever you should bring the sheaf of the increase offering, seven entire periods of seven; until the next day of the last period of seven you shall count fifty days, and you shall bring a new sacrifice offering to the Lord
TARGUM ONKELOS: And count to you, after the "Festival Day," from the day that you brought the omera of the elevation, seven weeks, complete shall they be. Until the (day) after the seventh week number fifty days, and (then) offer a new mincha before the Lord.
TARGUM PSEUDO-JONATHAN And number to you after the "First Feast Day of Pascha, from the day when you brought the sheaf for the elevation, seven weeks; complete they shall be. Until the day after the seventh week you shall number fifty days, and shall offer a mincha of the new bread unto the Name of the Lord.
